| Prairie Canada Pond Numbers |
|
Conditions across the Canadian prairies improved in 2009, with the exception of southern Alberta. The 2009 estimate of ponds in Prairie Canada was 3.6 ± 0.1 million. This was a 17% increase from last year's estimate (3.1 ± 0.1 million) and was similar to the long-term average (3.4 ± 0.03 million). The prairie parklands received below-normal precipitation but waterfowl habitat in this area continued to benefit from above-normal precipitation received in 2007 and was classified as fair to good. |
