I would like to take my child hunting. Is there anything special I need?

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and many state wildlife agencies have implemented "Youth Waterfowl Hunting Day," which provides young people an extra hunting day before or after the regular waterfowl season. This opportunity also provides a chance for experienced waterfowl hunters to take youths in the field to teach them duck hunting techniques and ethics. The day is held outside of any regular waterfowl season on either a weekend or holiday, when youth 16 years or younger would have the maximum opportunity to participate. For information about whether or not your state participates in Youth Waterfowl Hunting days, check with the state wildlife agency at http://www.flyways.us/state-links.
