Reporting Bands

Important Notice:

Flyways.us will be shutting down on January 2, 2019. However, most of the content found here will now be available on the the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Migratory Bird Program website.

If a hunter kills a bird with a band attached, he or she is encouraged to report the information imprinted on the band.  The information from your 50th banded bird is just as important as the information from your first. Be prepared to give the date and location of where the bird was shot or found.

You can report the band online at www.reportband.gov.

The hunter is welcome to keep the band, and will receive a certificate that lists the sex, age and location of the bird when it was banded. Banding information is critical to help biologists better understand waterfowl movement patterns, harvest and survival rates.
